BrainWorks: The Theatre of Neuroscience
Four one-Acts, one PBS public television Series
Synopsis
“Four stories inspired by research, patients, and treatment. Presented live, on stage.
This program explores the wonders of the human brain by dramatizing real-life neurological cases to reveal the science behind brain diseases, including Alzheimer’s, epilepsy, brain tumors, and stroke.
This fascinating production is a collaboration between Washington University neurosurgeons Eric C. Leuthardt, M.D., and Albert H. Kim, M.D., Barnes-Jewish Hospital, the Nine Network of Public Media, and four playwrights, Barbara Hammond, Deb Margolin, Rogelio Martinez, and John Walch. John wrote one of the four episodes (Double Windsor) and served as story editor of the entire series.
Theatrical rights are available for the individual one-acts.
Seth Gordon
“John's contribution was to take all four plays and provide the connective tissue that makes these four disparate one act plays a singular experience.”
Washington University School of Medicine
"John was an absolute pleasure to work with. He was enthusiastic and deeply insightful. His sense for how various content could be constructed was superb. There were countless times where his ability to either create or alter content were the critical aspects that turned a dry or mundane aspect of the play into something profoundly emotionally impactful. We will be forever grateful for the opportunity to have worked with John Walch. Our appreciation and awe of the craft of theatre has forever been changed by interacting with him."
